Priya Prakash Varrier became an overnight sensation thanks to a short clip from the song Manikya Malaraya Poovi that is part of her debut film, Oru Adaar Love.
The song went on to attain a cult status, thanks to Priya’s captivating eyebrow dance and her flirtatious wink.
The viral hit song from director Omar Lulu’s upcoming film Oru Adaar Love has achieved a new feat now. It has become the fastest video from South India to receive 50 million views on YouTube.
The song, which was released on February 9, has achieved this in just 28 days. The song was also trending at the number 1 position for four days in the India list. Currently, the song inching towards the 60 million mark.
Priya Prakash Varrier’s fame catapulted overnight and eventually she became Google’s most searched actress, beating the likes of Sunny Leone.
She also became a hotshot on Instagram by gaining a record number of followers in just a day. She shot past even names like Mark Zuckerberg, Trisha and Anushka Shetty, as far as the number of followers is concerned.
The song Manikya Malaraya Poovi, originally composed by Thalassery K Refeeque, was revisited by Shaan Rahman and the latter’s version was featured in the movie. Oru Adaar Love, which is in production now, is expected to release sometime in July this year.
Prior to Manikya Malaraya Poovi, it was ‘Jimikki Kammal’ which had become the first-ever Malayalam song to cross 50 million views. However, Jimikki Kammal took more a month and a half to achieve this feat.
Recently, Baahubali’s Saahore became the first South Indian song to cross 100 million views on YouTube.
