Shahid Kapoor, who is currently enjoying the success of Padmaavat with the movie all set to become a blockbuster, has already begun shooting for his next which is titled “Batti Gul Meter Chalu”. From playing a royal Rajput king in Padmaavat, Shahid will be seen as an ordinary lawyer in Batti Gul Meter Chalu.

Recently we have seen many pictures and videos of the stars from the location of the shoot that are already trending on the internet. And now we have another picture which gives us a better idea for Shahd Kapoor’s look in the film.  In this picture, we can see that Shahid is wearing warm clothes along with a Rudraksh necklace to go with it. So, it would be safe to assume that Shahid Kapoor is going for the look of a typical young local boy from Uttarakhand. A source from the production team also confirmed the same saying, “Shahid plays a young local boy from Uttarakhand who is a die-hard romantic. The costume designer duo has been working with artisans in villages of the North Indian state and sourcing fabrics locally to ensure authenticity. Shahid will be wearing lots of bright sweaters and jackets since the story unfolds in winter.”

Shahid Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor who are currently shooting for the movie in Uttarakhand have opted to stay in the local huts instead of the usual high end luxury budgets that they are used to. Reason being, that there was no luxury hotel in Tehri, the location at which the shoot is set up. So the stars and the rest of the team together came to the conclusion that it was better to find accommodation somewhere more close to the sets. After considering all the viable options, the makers approached Shahid with the idea of a home stay near the sets. Shahid instantly agreed. Shraddha was fine with it too. Reportedly, Shahid also believed that if the actors stay in proximity with the locals they would have a better understanding of the people whom they are to portray in the movie. He could incorporate their dialect, body language and help the character look more authentic and believable.

Batti Gul Meter Chalu is made by Shree Narayan Singh, the director who created Toilet : Ek Prem Katha. And just as his previous film it seems that he is tackling another social issue with Batti Gul Meter Chalu which is electricity theft. Yami Gautam is also playing a leading role in the film and is expected to join the rest of the cast for shoot soon.
