Vicky Kaushal is set to play lead role in Legendary hockey player Major Dhyan Chand’s biopic. This will be Vicky’s third biopic. He has already played role of Sardar Udham in his biopic and will be seen as Sam Manek Shaw in his biopic ‘Sam Bahadur’.
Biopic On Hockey Legend Dhyan Chand:
Producer, Ronnie Screwvala had earlier confirmed that Abhishek Chaubey will direct a biopic on the famous hockey player Dhyan Chand. The film was initially said to star Ishaan Khatter in the lead role, but recent reports suggest that he is no longer attached to the project. Instead, the makers are in talks with Vicky Kaushal for the lead role, and the discussions have progressed to an advanced stage.
Vicky is reportedly impressed with the story and is keen to collaborate with the team on the project. However, a final decision on the shooting schedule and other formalities will be taken after the completion of Sam Bahadur. This will be the fourth collaboration between Vicky and Ronnie Screwvala after ‘Love Per Square Foot’, ‘Uri: The Surgical Strike’ and ‘Sam Bahadur’.
About Major Dhyan Chand:
Major Dhyan Chand, known as The Magician of Hockey for his superb ball control, played at the international level from 1926 to 1949. According to his autobiography, Goals, he scored 570 goals in 185 matches and over 1000 goals in his entire domestic and international matches.
He was also known for his excellent ball control and goal-scoring feats, in addition to earning three Olympic gold medals, in 1928, 1932 and 1936, during an era when India was dominated field hockey.

On the other hand, Vicky Kaushal announced the wrap of Meghna Gulzar’s ‘Sam Bahadur‘ film last month. He will also be seen in Laxman Utekar’s yet untitled next, co-starring Sara Ali Khan.
He has also completed Vijay Krishna Acharya’s family film ‘The Great Indian Family’ as well as an as yet untitled film co-starring Tripti Dimri and Manushi Chhillar with director Anand Tiwari. Kaushal will also make a brief appearance in Rajkumar Hirani’s immigration drama ‘Dunki’.
