About Robots:
Whitehall takes on the role of Charles, a notorious playboy living in a world where robots fulfill tasks that regular citizens find bothersome. In Charles’ case, that includes putting in the effort to woo a romantic partner. When he meets Elaine, portrayed by Woodley, Charles cleverly assigns his robot doppelganger to do the heavy lifting of dating her, aiming to reap the benefits during the more romantic stages. Unbeknownst to Charles, Elaine also has her own robot doppelganger, and these two artificial intelligences find themselves falling in love and running away together, assuming their human counterparts’ identities in the process. Now, it’s up to the human Charles and Elaine to set aside their differences and pursue their eloping robot counterparts.
Robots boasts a clever and hilarious premise that perfectly suits Whitehall, renowned for his stand-up comedy and notable appearances alongside his idol Dwayne Johnson in Disney’s Jungle Cruise. Woodley, known for her dramatic roles in films like The Fault in Our Stars, showcases her comedic skills in this exciting departure from her usual genre.
Star Cast of Robots:
Behind the camera, the talented duo of Hines and Christiensen take the reins as writers and directors. Hines, a frequent collaborator of Sacha Baron Cohen, has contributed to the scripts of Cohen’s popular series Da Ali G Show and Who Is America? Additionally, Hines has collaborated with Cohen on films such as Borat, Brüno, and Borat: Subsequent Moviefilm. With the combined talents of Whitehall and Hines, Robots is poised to deliver endless laughter to audiences.
The highly anticipated Robots is set to release simultaneously in theaters and on demand on May 19th this year. The film, produced by Stephen Camel, Julian Favre, Cassian Elwes, Bern Wintersperger, Sascha Kmajac, Lars Sylvest, and Thorsten Schumacher, promises a delightful blend of humor and romance.
