Carry on Jatta 3 Movie Review: Gippy Grewal and Sonam Bajwa once again deliver a tried-and-tested formula that guarantees entertainment. With a dose of madness and an ensemble cast that shines, this film is a delightful experience where laughter never stops.
Carry on Jatta 3 Movie Review:
Smeep Kang delivers another dose of Punjabi comedy with a mixed outcome. The highly successful Carry On Jatta series, which propelled Gippy Grewal to stardom in 2012 and put Punjabi cinema on the map, returns with its third installment. Directed by Smeep Kang, Carry On Jatta 3 attempts to capture the same brand of humor that made its predecessors a hit, but with varying results.
Set in London, the film follows Jass (Gippy Grewal), an eligible bachelor whose father, Advocate Dhillon (Jaswinder Bhalla), is eager for him to get married. Jass falls in love with Meet (Sonam Bajwa), but their union faces obstacles when Meet’s uncle, Dilawer (Nasir Chinyoti), clashes with Advocate Dhillon, leading both families to oppose the marriage.
Undeterred, Jass teams up with his friend Honey (Gurpreet Ghuggi) to devise a plot to win over Meet. However, their hare-brained schemes only land them in bigger trouble. In their desperate attempt to conceal one lie, they involve Goldie (Binnu Dhillon), and together, they weave a tangled web of deceit. The rest of the film focuses on Jass and Goldie’s efforts to untangle themselves from the ensuing madness and convince their families to accept the union of Jass and Meet.
The hallmark of the Carry On Jatta series has always been its comedy and memorable dialogues that resonate with audiences. In Carry On Jatta 3, the film maintains its momentum with a barrage of rib-tickling dialogues. While some jokes may seem silly, they are nonetheless topical and entertaining. For example, one character exclaims, “The girl is a bomb,” to which another retorts, “Do you intend to throw it on Ukraine?”
The film relies on physical gestures, clever wordplay, and situational comedy to create a seamless flow of laughter. However, the pace occasionally falters, particularly in the second half, only to regain momentum towards the end. At times, the jokes become tiresome, and the film ventures into a noisy chaos. The eagerness to move from one comic situation to another results in a few unnecessary and rushed scenes.
Carry On Jatta 3 sees the return of most actors from the original film, including Binnu Dhillon, Gurpreet Ghuggi, and Jaswinder Bhalla, with Sonam Bajwa joining in the sequel, Carry on Jatta 2 (2018). Pakistani comedian Nasir Chinyoti adds his well-known antics to the mix. BN Sharma makes a cameo appearance, reprising his iconic dialogue from the 2012 film, “Mujhe Kuch Nahi Pata.” Shinda Grewal shines with his innocent charm, while writer Naresh Kathooria makes a guest appearance, infusing the film with his brand of silly humor and hilarious dialogues.
The ensemble cast of supporting actors forms the backbone of the film, showcasing their comedic chemistry through eccentric characters and humorous interactions. Audiences, already familiar with the witty dialogues and physical comedy, will likely find themselves quoting lines from the film in their daily lives.
The music of Carry On Jatta 3 lives up to expectations. Memorable dance tracks like “Lehenga” and “Jatti” by Ammy Virk and Gippy Grewal add crackling energy to the film. B Praak’s soulful melody “Farishtey” and the romantic number “Bura Haal” further enhance the musical experience. Despite its flaws, Carry On Jatta 3 remains an overall family.
