The unveiling of the first look for ‘Bawaal’ took place on Monday, with Prime Video sharing Varun and Janhvi’s captivating on-screen chemistry. The caption accompanying the first look stated, “Badlega sabke dilon ka haal kyunki duniya bhar mein hone wala hai Bawaal. Iss July… banega mahaul as Bawaal goes global” (Hearts will change because a commotion is about to take place worldwide). The film, which will be available exclusively on Prime Video, is set to premiere worldwide in over 200 countries and territories.
The first look poster captures the lead pair, Varun and Janhvi, lost in each other’s gaze. Janhvi adorns an ethnic look with traditional Indian earrings, while Varun sports a blue shirt and grey jacket, exuding a charismatic aura.
Speaking about the decision to release the film directly on a streaming platform, Sajid Nadiadwala, co-producer under his banner Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment, stated, “Set in the heartland of India, the gripping narrative takes viewers on a never-seen-before journey through Europe. We believe that a film that is rooted in India but has a global appeal deserves to reach customers not just in India, but all across the world.”
Nitesh Tiwari, co-producer under his banner Earthsky Pictures, added, “Shot across three Indian locations and five European countries, Bawaal has a captivating storyline, dramatic visuals, and absolutely amazing chemistry between the lead talent Varun and Janhvi. I believe that the worldwide premiere on Prime Video will help us take Bawaal to audiences in India and across borders.”
Movies releasing in July:
July is packed with theatrical releases, with films like ‘Satyaprem Ki Katha,’ starring Kartik Aaryan and Kiara Advani, and ‘Indiana Jones: The Dial of Destiny,’ starring Harrison Ford, extending their run from late June. However, Hollywood releases, including Tom Cruise’s action thriller ‘Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning Part One,’ Christopher Nolan’s period film ‘Oppenheimer,’ and Greta Gerwig’s adaptation of ‘Barbie’ featuring Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling, are set to dominate the Indian box office in July. Karan Johar’s romantic comedy ‘Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahaani,’ starring Ranveer Singh, Alia Bhatt, Shabana Azmi, Dharmendra, and Jaya Bachchan, will be the last release of the month on July 28.
This marks Varun Dhawan’s second straight-to-streaming release, following the premiere of his father David Dhawan’s ‘Coolie No. 1’ on Prime Video India in December 2020 during the first year of the COVID-19 pandemic in India. Janhvi Kapoor has also had two of her solo lead films released directly on streaming platforms, including ‘Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl’ on Netflix India in 2020.
