Guardians of the Galaxy, which introduced the world to Chris Pratt’s Star-Lord in 2014, earned $94 million upon debut.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 grossed $114 million, making it the second biggest opening weekend of the year behind The Super Mario Bros. Movie, which grossed $146 million. However, at the international box office, Chris Pratt and Zoe Saldana’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 earned $168 million from 52 markets, bringing its total to $282 million. This includes $28 million from China, which has seen a staggering and mostly hostile reaction to Hollywood films in recent times.

On the other hand, In India, the film seems to have missed out on the craze seen by other Hollywood ventures. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 earned Rs 7.3 crore in India on Friday, followed by Rs 8.11 crore on Saturday. On Sunday, the film earned around Rs 8.50 crore, taking its total to Rs 23.91 crore.
Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 3 is the last film directed by James Gunn for Marvel, before moving to DC Studios as co-head. The film was also the final appearance of Zoe Saldana’s Gamora and Dave Bautista’s Drax the Destroyer.
