This upcoming film adaptation revives the Tony Award-winning musical, which draws inspiration from Alice Novel’s 1982 novel. The first film adaptation of ‘The Color Purple’ was released in 1985, featuring a remarkable cast including Oprah, Whoopi Goldberg, Margaret Avery, and Danny Glover. It garnered 11 Academy Award nominations, including Best Picture, Best Actress for Whoopi, and Best Supporting Actress for Oprah, although it didn’t secure victories in any category.
