Ajmer 92 Story:
The film’s storyline draws inspiration from true events and is based on the infamous ‘Ajmer Case of 1992.’ In 1992, a horrifying incident unfolded in Ajmer, Rajasthan, where over more than 250 young girls in their teenage exploitation and subjected to blackmail. They lured the victims to a rural farmhouse or cottage over several years, culminating in 1992, where the girls were assaulted by one or more men. Furthermore, the offenders collected and exploited explicit photos of the victims to blackmail and silence them.
The revelation of these crimes occurred when a local newspaper, published an article exposing the details of the incidents, including some of the photos taken by the rapists. Subsequently, the police initiated an investigation into the matter. Shockingly, the local government was reportedly aware of the incidents for nearly a year but chose to postpone taking legal action. Eventually, in September 1992, as many as 18 serial offenders were charged in court. The first eight defendants received life sentences, but in 2001, the Rajasthan High Court acquitted four of them. Farooq Chishti was found guilty by a fast-track court in Ajmer in 2007; however, he was released on time served in 2013 by the High Court.
The accused individuals held significant social and financial influence, which further complicated the process of encouraging the girls to come forward and testify,” stated retired Rajasthan D.G.P. Omendra Bhardwaj, who was serving as the Deputy Inspector General of Police in Ajmer at that time.
