Kennedy Screening at Sydney Film Festival 2023:
In one of her social media posts, Sunny can be seen standing alongside Anurag Kashyap on the red carpet before the film’s premiere. She expressed her gratitude to Anurag by captioning the picture, “What a night!! Thank you @anuragkashyap10 for this moment. #kennedy.” The duo shared a warm embrace in one of the photos, while another captured them posing with fellow crew members in a grand screening theater. Anurag, serving as the head of the Jury at the festival, added to the excitement of the event.
Sunny further shared another post that detailed her exquisite look for the evening. She donned a mesmerizing silver gown with a thigh-high slit, complemented by minimal accessories and wavy hairstyle. In the caption, she wrote, “I do believe Iām living in a dream š Thank you to every single person that has been a part of this dream of a journey and every single person to lift me up and support me!! I love you all #Kennedy – WE are a part of History !!!”
Sunny’s post garnered attention and received reactions from various individuals, including actor Rahul Bhat, the main lead of Kennedy, who praised her stunning appearance. Fans also flooded the comments section with words of admiration, describing her as a dream and showering her with red heart emoticons.
While Sunny’s character in Kennedy remains mysterious, a brief glimpse of her can be seen in the teaser, where she is captured laughing inside an elevator. The film revolves around an insomniac ex-cop seeking redemption, with the storyline showcasing the complexities of her life. Kennedy, initially featured in the Midnight Screening section at Cannes, received a remarkable standing ovation lasting seven minutes.
Regarding the decision to cast Sunny, Anurag explained in an interview with Film Companion, “I swear I have never seen her films, ever. I have seen her interviews. There is a certain sadness in her eyes. There has been a life in the past. I needed a woman over 40, who is exploited by men around her, men who are in their 50s and 60s. In Sunny, I found a woman who came with all those things inbuilt, who is also dealing with it, also handling it, also using it all in order to survive and navigate.”
